Growing Herbs

Growing herbs is a wonderful thing - soft colours, rich scents and contented bees. Herbs are ridiculously easy to grow. Starting from seed is the cheapest option. Full sun and well drained soil suit most herbs best but a few like Parsley, Mint and Chervil can be grown in partial shade.

Herbs do well in pots and this gives you the option of positioning them on patios or in areas where you frequent and can make the most of their lovely aroma.

Set your plants in at the same level they were in their original pots and water well. Keep them watered for the first few weeks if the weather is dry but after that they need very little attention.

Most herbs are hardy plants and will live for many years. To harvest herbs gather on a warm dry day and hang them upside down in small bunches in a warm place.

Herbs of course can be used in cooking and also in home remedies. There is an excellent guide to home remedies available, Click Here! to take a look.
